I'm never sure how much reading I'll actually be able to do, but here are some science books I'd love - and hope - to read this summer:
1. Scatter, Adapt, and Remember: How Humans Will Survive a Mass Extinction - yeah, it could happen. There have been 5 mass extinctions in Earth's history. Some say we're in the middle of the sixth mass extinction right now. Sounds interesting. Count me in.
2. The Universe Within: The Deep History of the Human Body - by the author of "Your Inner Fish," you might recognize him from a couple videos shown in class - also discovered Tiktaalik. He's a very engaging writer. Check it out - hope I can too.
3. The Machinery of Life - I got this for Valentine's Day (what a wife!), but I haven't had a chance to read it. *fingers crossed*
4. Lone Survivors: How We Came to be the Only Humans On Earth
5. The Viral Storm: The Dawn of a New Pandemic Age
This doesn't even count the fiction I want to read. The books are piling up. I'm leaving plenty of books off this list - there's more. I've also really fallen behind on watching "Cosmos" and I hope I can catch up. Summer can't come soon enough when it comes to reading.
What do you recommend? (Because my list really needs to be longer)
